Lorna Hathaway needs a change in her life. The only fun she's had lately is the online friendship she develops with `Coach' after they meet in an Internet game room playing WordMaker. Although they become good friends through email, `Coach' knows her only as `Sweet Stuff'. So she gives up the security of her small hometown and her job in the family's bakery business and moves to the big city. After all, expanding her social circle is the only way she'll ever fulfill her dream of a family of her own. When she takes a position in the Hathaway Bakery's Houston plant, what she finds is trouble in plant manager, Nick DeSanto. Big, handsome and infuriating trouble. Sexy trouble, but trouble, nonetheless. Nick figures Lorna has been sent from the home office to spy on his production, possibly to replace him, and he doesn't like it one bit. Imagine his surprise when he finds out his online pal,`Sweet Stuff', is none other than the snobby Ms. Hathaway. Nick knows he can uncover the `sweetie' within her, but first, he must find a way past her frosty dislike for him. If you've seen the movie with a similar theme and enjoyed it, I can assure you, you'll enjoy the book even more. Patricia Kay makes it special by creating characters with warmth and a deep sense of family. The `goodness' in her voice comes through loud and clear in this loving story of finding that 'special one' in the midst of life changes, tense conflict and self-doubt. I'll be on the lookout for this author's next book.

After a long day, her books are perfect because you can count on the stories to leave you with a smile and a sigh. YOU'VE GOT GAME is no different. Sure, when Lorna Hathaway confides to her online gaming partner about Nick, her pain-in-the-neck boss, we can guess what's coming. But it becomes fresh seeing it through Lorna's eyes, and waiting for a new love to unfold for a new member of the Hathaway baking dynasty is a part of the story's sweet appeal. Highly recommended.
