A concise and friendly biography of Winston Churchill notably written by a German. While I disagree with a few of Sebastian Haffner's many interesting points, such as that Churchill was an absolute failure at school and that Sir Stafford Cripps the politician "might possibly have fitted into the landscape of the second half of the war better than Churchill", on balance Mr. Haffner's book is quite admirable and one that will be enjoyed by those interested in this great man. Perfect for a cross-country airplane flight.

This book is a great account of Churchill's life; how 3 wars made him famous, his rise and fall in British politics, his private life and other subjects. Churchill had an interesting life. Haffner had an interesting way of telling and writing. Together it makes this book one that you should read.
