After a year at Hillsdale High, Haley thinks she knows what she's in for as she starts her junior year. She knows what to expect from the it girls, the brains, the rockers, and the artists. She knows... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was the fifth book in the "What if..." series and the sixth one I read. I bought it yesterday, and managed to navigate Haley's choices okay. I managed to only just avoid three of the five "Go back to Page 1" choices. I read them afterwards, to find that "New Jersey Water Torture"'s problem was much worse than even "Alone With Luke" in the second book. In this (Spoilers ahead) there was a co-ed initiation for two freshman girls to join the soccer team. The girls, Leah and Marissa, had to drink at least a gallon of water. Marissa was full early on, but Leah found it slightly easier. When the girls finished, Haley congratulated them, but found out soon after that both girls had been rushed to the emergency room and that Marissa had passed out. It turned out to be water poisoning and Marissa's condition nearly killed her. When the girls confessed to the initiation, Haley was kicked off the soccer team and expelled from school, although it was noted she didn't realize the danger of a water overload. If new readers are reading this, you might want to forget it-or not. Anyway, read the book if you are a new "What if" reader or if you liked the other books in the series. I do advise new readers to read earlier books first though.
