What Do I Know about My God?

In this slim volume Mardi Collier presents a simple, powerful tool for growing in the knowledge of God and allowing that knowledge to permeate your life and ministry. What I liked: 1. God-focused. Most of the problems we face are because we do not apprehend the character of our God. This is not a "how-to" book, but it provides real help for any/every situation a believer is facing. 2. She went the extra mile to give specific personal examples of how and when she had used her notebook. 3. There is considerable help in the appendices for those who choose to create their own notebook. 4. This is not a multi-sectioned monster that requires a PhD in organization, but a very do-able project that creates a thirst and excitement for God and His Word. 5. The price. I always appreciate a publisher that can keep a book under $10. What I wish could be added: 1. I would REALLY like to see the publisher create a visually appealing small booklet of just Appendix C, her "Emergency Pack" verses that could be slipped into a handbag or given to a friend in need. (She was gracious enough to lift the copyright on this portion of the book, so it can be photocopied.) 2. If Mrs. Collier's time ever permits, I would love to see a blog or newsletter based on this book that offered new sections/verses that have been a blessing to her. 3. One more appendix: A plan for using this book at a ladies' retreat or for a Bible Study. This book builds an excitement that begs to be shared, but isn't in a group format.

This book is wonderful! It's more than a study of God. It shows you how to start your own life-long study of God. Mardi is so real and down-to-earth and presents her thoughts in such an easy to understand way. I have used her book in my ladies' Bible Study and with my youth Sunday School class. I have my own "What do I know about God" notebook and feel that I am growing so much as I really learn who my God is. Many times during trials or discouragement I have used "Emergency pack" of verses in the back of the book. I thank the Lord for leading me to this book, it has truly been life changing!

I have found the devotional ideas presented in this book to be the most practical and challenging to my own spiritual life--more so than any other book. The author's style is so warm and friendly that I feel as if I know her personally. More importantly, she has taught me to know my God more personally.

In her book, she shares an effective Bible study plan that she and many others have used to learn more about God and also shares how this Bible study has helped her. Topics like: My God is in Control, My God Protects, and My God is Compassionate are only a few of the many themes in this book. This book is definitely worth it to buy. I highly recommend it to women AND teens. You can't be too young to benefit from this book.
