Volume 2 is of course the second book in a series of books written in the '70s featuring new and unusual superheroes. These heroes are created by some of the best talent around. Each volume in the series is different in that a book can have several stories or just one, and in this case, Volume 2 features six new heroes and their stories. Doc Phoenix is in many ways like Doc Savage, that earlier pulp hero; Cordwainer Bird is a hero based upon the pen name of Harlan Ellison and is written by Ellison himself; there is the return of Phillip Jose Farmer's hero from Book One, Greatheart Silver; we have Viva, a west coast prostitute turn heroine; SPV166--The underground Express is the story of three female ex-cons who work out of a New York City subway car; and the Camden Kid is an unlikely cowboy from Camden New Jersey. Six really great stories in one volume. Ron
