"Vietnam - The Other Side of Glory" is a collection of sixteen different stories involving marines, soldiers, airmen, and sailors who went through some of the most horrendous experiences in Vietnam, only to carry home a duffle bag filled with the invisible wounds of the heart, the mind, and their souls. But it also tells the deeply personal accounts of how each of them where ultimately able to redeem something positive, purposeful out of their traumas and tragedies. This is not your typical Christan book which has been whitewashed and sanitized with a "G Rating." It holds no punches. It is hard-hitting, gutsy, and sometimes brutal as it tells the true-life stories of how some weathered their "Dark Nights of the Soul" and found meaning and closure. It is written by a fellow vet to vets and non-vets alike. It speaks to both a secular and Christain audience. It tells of the poignant ordeals of individual grunts, marine riflemen, a combat medic, an evac-nurse, fighter pilots, a P.O.W., a Marine M.P, a forward observer, a combat radioman, a trauma surgeon, a "Swift Boat" gunner, and a Chaplain who won a Silver Star for heroism. Though we may never establish the "Rights & Wrongs" of that dirty little war, we can more accurately come to an understanding of the human element. Over the years, this anthology has proven to be a source of comfort, hope, and healing for many vets and their families as well as those interested in that dark period in American history. In some ways, it is a fitting requiem for all who served and tells the often over-looked story about the Vietnam experience - "The Other Side of Glory."
