It was at Caesarea Philippi that Jesus declared His intention to build His Church. While the word translated "Church" in the New Testament is "ecclesia", and in the mind of most people Church is a place, what Jesus had in mind to build was an assembly or gathering of people whom He would call out of the world to be His disciples and citizens of the Kingdom of God. As ecclesia is never used to refer to a place, the purpose of this book is to explore the difference Church understood as a place and Church understood as a gathering of men and women called out of the world has for the life and worship of people. The difference is that in the one instance worship is understood as going to a place, whereas, in the other it is gathering with others who like one's self have been called out of the world to be disciples and citizens of the Kingdom of God.
