The beautiful thing about this book is it is written by Italians for foreigners who are studying to pass their language examination. It is the first book in a two part series. The second level is called "DUE" and both levels include 2 books, "Libro dello Studente" for reading and "Libro degli Esercizi" for grammar exercises. Uno is equivilent to a first year college course, Due to Intermediate College Italian. It has very thoughtfully included areas it knows you will not be able to communicate with just a dictionary and phrasebook alone. (almost as though they have asked a clerk who has dealt with many foreigners and who knows the questions they are unable to ask, and he has written those phrases out for you ahead of time). It is all in Italian, but very easy to understand for beginners. It is also intelligently written. This is a great book if you plan on staying or studying in Italy or enjoy an authentic Italian perspective on language and culture.

I blindly purchased this book on the Internet because I had had trouble finding a good Italian book. It is great! The pictures are beautiful and make the book very attractive. Everything is laid out in a manner which makes the book really easy to follow and learn from. I have studied many languages and this is by far one of the best texts I have seen.
