Treasure at Devil's Cove is an exciting treasure hunt adventure story written for children ages nine to thirteen. The story takes place in Nova Scotia sixty-nine years after a WWII German Admiral purchased a cottage on Lunenburg Bay, using a false name. Four cousins visit their Grannie and Grandpa at their summer cottage in Lunenburg. They discover a mysterious box in Grannies attic and try to figure out what it is and how it came to be hidden there. The kids use Google to decipher the clues. A computer search of "U-881," (engraved on a brass plate on the box) points to a WWII German submarine that had been sunk off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1945. They use Google to translate the Admiral's diary and the hand written notes on the nautical chart. The clues suggest that there is a treasure hidden in a cave on nearby Devil's Cove. In addition to the thrill of the treasure hunt, the kids learn about Nova Scotia, it's history, and legends. The coastal setting facilitates exciting sailing, water skiing and power boating episodes, that provide an educational introduction to water sports. The story-line tension pulls even reluctant readers through to a satisfying and unexpected conclusion.
