Still reading, even after the baby has arrived!

This is the sweetest book about expecting a new sibling. My 2 year old son loves it, and as another reviewer said, loves the pictures that he can name all the items. The descriptions the little boy uses to explain parts of pregnancy were cute, and easy-to-understand for my son. It's just a charming book! We have two boys, so the genders worked perfectly for us. I like how it makes a story out of pregnancy...it doesn't focus on how the boy feels about the new child, and there's no obvious "moral" like many of the new-sibling books I've come across. It portrays the father, mother, little boy and coming baby with respect and tenderness.

This book has sweet phrases and illustrations of familiar settings. My son particularly likes the walpaper with pictures of many objects he can name.

When I found out my girlfriend was pregnant with her second child, I asked my six year old daughter if we could share our copy of "There's a House Inside My Mommy" and her answer was "NO"--she won't even let her 3 year old sister keep it in her room. We have read this book over and over for years and just purchased it for my girlfriend. The poetry is wonderful and the illustrations are warm and fun--it's a wonderful gift or a great book to add to your home library! I originally bought the book when I was pregnant with my second child to help explain why Mommy didn't feel too good--and this book does a great job at it on a child's level!
Favorite book for a "sibling to be"

We had this book from the library for our two year old son when we were expecting our second baby. Now we give it as a gift to all of our friends who are expecting a second or third child. The illustrations are adorable and the story is the perfect way to explain a baby in mommy's tummy. It won't disappoint! I think you'll love it too!
Well written & illustrated book

We've had this book for 1 day and already read it at least 6 times. My 23-month old girl loves it and asks me to read it all the time and relates herself and her mummy very well to those in the book. I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to introduce a pregnancy and coming baby to a toddler around 2 years (not much before this). Hope this helps.
