Further proof you should never believe the book jacket, which makes this look like something I'd never read. Maybe like something nobody would ever read. But I ignored the cover and started reading the book, and it hooked me immediately. I love the style. It grabs you immediately. Witty, clever, understated, deceptively simplistic, sharp, observant, filled with meaning. Scottish yarn spinning at its finest. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this, and I'll be hunting for some more of her work. I'm probably not in its "target demographic," either. Great writing transcends such crappy classifications.
