This action-packed swashbuckling adventure is a classic tale of romance, revenge, and breathtaking exploits on the high seas. The time is 1804 and the U.S. Navy is attacking and destroying pirate... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I loved this book! Up until the ending that is. It was just so abrupt! I turned the page looking for more and was disappointed. I just didn't feel like the characters' issues were resolved fully. Otherwise very good story that kept me reading late into the night.
A "6" on my own 5 point Scale

What a wonderful read - Ms. Canham is one of my favorite authors but this is the ONLY book in my personal list of over 400 books that exceeded my 5 point rating. The plot builds and builds, and the characterizations are superb, making the reader like or dislike an individual intensely. It is a shame that the book is so hard to locate and I agree with other reviewers that a re-issue is required.
I wish someone would reissue this book!

Like the other reader who commented, my copy is worn out andhas more tape than glue.... This was one the best adventure romance books that I read and I have to say it was like watching a movie. In fact, when A & E recently ran Hornblower, I thought of The Wind and the Sea and pulled out my tattered copy to read again. I'm not a fan of pirate novels, but this one and Ms Canham's other seafaring adventure, Across A Moonlit Sea, are two of the very best IMO.
A pirate wench clashes with an aristocratic navy lieutenant.

The Wind and the Sea, Marsha Canham's best book, is unequaled when it comes to seafaring, swashbuckling, sizzling romance. Premier characterization, superb plotting grab the reader from the onset and refuse to let go. Courtney, daughter of a pirate, and Adrian Ballantine, honor bound navy man, fight and love from beginning to end.
A Classic

I wish someone would reprint this. My copy is old and worn and falling apart but it is one of the best seafaring adventure romances I have ever read.
