Sibley's revised Deluxe edition is amazing for the number of elements he brings together: photos, paintings, essays to construct his viewpoint on not just crime and violence but the life of the famous painter Caravaggio, Edison, Dr.Carver, Muddy Waters and others. Usually, when one writes about crime, violence, history, and popular culture the arguments are based solely on a social science perspective. Taking off on a different path, Sibley writes from a humanities point of view, focusing on film criticism, history, biblical interpretation, gender studies, observations on contemporary day-to-day life, and movements in the political sphere and his eclectic painting pallet. A collection of his best art and lit.
