As with the Jalav/Mida series, this line of characters deals with preconceived notions and challenging ones belief system. However, this storyline comes from a viewpoint of priviledge (and the sacrifices that accompany such "priviledge"), and is the typical "little woman" viewpoint so that more of the (feminine) readers can concentrate on the storyline and not be so bowled over by the "masculine" viewpoint coming from a female chracter. Lots of similarity with the Jalav series, but served in a more American culture-friendly viewpoint so that female readers can get the (don't let yourself be trapped by the gilded cage) message without being turned off by the strongly emphatic lead woman's characteristics.
