The focus in this book shifts beyond Barbara and Arthur to include the everyday lives of her friends and her 'cousiness' Jeri Abbott, who makes a life for herself while her husband is away at war. Mix that in with an amusing quandary faced by another young woman who is a secret author, and you have a book worth reading more than once.
