Caught in the crossfire...between a mysterious Apache, who claims he's a Texas Ranger, and some very angry desperados, she doesn't know who to trust. The last thing Shiloh Drummond wants is a man in her life, although right now this ranger is all she has Logan Hawk can't wait to get rid of this feisty female and return to the task of avenging his mentor's death -- although he must do the honorable thing and protect her at all costs. But during a long trip to safety that's more rocky than romantic, Logan realizes that he may not really want to let Shiloh go...
I throughly enjoy reading Carol Finch's books. She has a way of writing that makes you think you're in her stories. She also has subtle humor in her stories that makes you chuckle, as well as parts that make you cry. You just feel that you know her characters
ONE OF THE BETTER ONES WRITTEN OF THE FRONTIER

One tantalizing scene everyone forgot to mention was where Logan Hawk literally drops out of the sky onto Shiloh as she thought herself safe to take a swim. Forgot to mention he was riding a great horse to make that jump. A great chase by the gang that Hawk had infiltrated and then absconded with their loot opens a fast moving story and of course the crossing from one canyon into another where Hawk didn't really want to go. It was where his family was annialated when he was a youngster. More danger in the crossing than just from the outlaws. Shiloh Drummond was learning that her life was not a bad as she had thought. There were others that has suffered a worse fate than she had when the frenchman she was infatuated with left her. Yup! Logan threatened her resolve not to be attracted to another man as they couldn't be trusted. Throw in the mix of the villians and a troop of Texas Rangers and the suspeciousness of the town leaders money - lends itself to a whale of a good story. Excellent characters - excellent plot - kinda dumb of Shiloh to think she could get away with having affairs like the men. But overall a story worth reading again. Definitely Recommended -M
A Wonderful Read and Explosive Ride

Author of Secret of the Blue Moon in Blue Moon Magic from Highland Press June 2006. I read a lot, and I mean 3-4 per week. I have never been disappointed by Ms. Finch and this one exceeded my expectation. Undercover Texas Ranger Logan Hawk has fought uphill odds all his life and getting away from a deadly gang will take all his skills, especially when he assumes responsibility for Shiloh Drummond, who was wounded only because they crossed paths. Shiloh Drummond is returning home a disasterous trip to New Orleans where her troublesome brothers hope to marry her off. Logan and Shiloh forge a truce that soon bursts into full-fledged passion. Only finding his brother prevents the inevitable and later her brothers find their only sister with the half Apache Texas Ranger. There are wrongs to be righted and Shiloh, Hawk, and their brothers pull together and events speed to a satisfying conclusion. Ms. Finch incorporates 1870s attitudes and language into the story. The unique plot winds its way to a satisfying conclusion. This one will stay on my shelf to be re-read many times. Pick it up and spend time in the Old West and today's problems will fade away for a while.
