With her voluptuous, plus-size figure, Angela Krizova knows she doesn't fit the male fantasy of the perfect woman. That's fine, because Bryan Perry isn't her idea of the ideal man, either. The gorgeous ski-bum-turned-corporate-exec is just the type she avoids like the plague. Except he won't take no for an answer. With Bryan pursuing her as if she's the most desirable woman in Crested Butte, Angela's starting to believe it just a little herself. Is the most irresistible guy in town really falling for her? Or is he the man most likely to break her heart?
3.5 stars Finally! This is a first for me to read a romance novel where the heroine is a plus size. Usually, they might be curvy but they are usually tall to even out their size. So, this is quite refreshing read for me. Bryan Perry, a ski bum turned into a manager with a nine-to-five job at a hotel, was coordinating a fundraiser and was working along with Angela Krizova. He had only spoken to her on the phone and was attracted to the voice and hoped the person matched his expectation. When they do meet, Angela wasn't what he expected. She wasn't the usually skinny ski bunnies he used to date, but a size 16 woman. Despite the dismal beginning, he realized he was still attracted to her and began to look underneath her surface. Angela was hurt once before and was reluctant to pursue another love affair when she knew when guys like him would never look at her twice. This story really hit some home truths which I really appreciated. I'm not a size 16 but I feel like I'm in the same boat. In this day in age, men usually look at thin women and overlook the others. Even when Bryan first met Angela, his first thought that she was "fat". But he redeemed himself when he realizes that there is more to looks and pursues her. Even though there were times you want to shake Angela, I totally understood her thinking. It's a little cliche that she owns a chocolate store but it balances well that she's an actress. The writing was good and really give a confidence boost that there are really great guys out there. The only reason I didn't give it a straight out 4 was because even though I could relate, it was an all right story. Nothing awespiring or innovative for me. But a good nonetheless.
