Fascinating book with a true female heroine.

I learned so much about the allegiance of the Philippines and its people to the United States during WWII. The sacrifices made, the courage and fortitude exhibited as a nation and that of a lone woman suffering from a debilitating disease who saved countless lives of American soldiers. This book is rich in important history, reads well and will keep you engaged and at times enraged. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in WWII especially the more obscure facts, women's contributions to the war efforts and heroism. This book will keep you thinking long after you have finished it.
