From the New York Times bestselling author of The Fourth Procedure comes a riveting thriller about a deadly virus, born of the past, that threatens to destroy the present. The Last Nazi seamlessly weaves genetics, terrorism, and the very human struggle of right and wrong into a terrifying and unforgettable story. Melissa Gale is an attractive, ambitious lawyer and investigator for the Office of Special Investigations, the Justice Department's "Nazi Hunters." Her quarry, known only by the name "Adalwolf," was the brilliant young protg of Dr. Josef Mengele, the Butcher of Auschwitz. Presumed dead for almost fifty years, Adalwolf has suddenly reappeared in the United States to take the lives of three people in a chilling, unusual way. Melissa stalks Adalwolf to bring him to justice, only to discover that he is actually stalking her. She has something he wants: a personal medical history that holds the key to his plan for the ultimate crime. Using a deadly biological virus born of the genetic projects started in the Nazi labs, Adalwolf is about to unleash the ultimate weapon of mass destruction. Melissa Gale and the baby she is carrying could be the key to his success. Trapped in his nightmare scheme, she is forced to fight for her life. The tension builds unbearably as Melissa's race to save her baby and stop Adalwolf from carrying out his plan forces her to confront the boundaries of good and evil---not only in him, but in herself.
I love the book. But why does he cheat, by selling the same book under two different names (The Final Procedure and The Last Nazi)? The books are identical. Why has noone mentioned it before? It is cheating ... I bought both. Look at preview of the books, and you will see! Funny too, why this book has only got 2,5 stars (before adding mine) and the Final Procedure got a lot.... same book. I could not put this book down! I took it on a long flight and read the whole thing straight through. Enjoyed the characters, the twists and turns, the suspense, the thrills...everything! This is my first book by Stan Pottinger, and I will definitely be reading his others.
Horrifying Scenario
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
Many thriller readers like myself have wondered if there would ever be a variation on the traditional Neo-Nazi plot. "The Last Nazi" by Stan Pottinger breaks the mold with its diabolic originality. A tenacious Nazi hunter, attorney Melissa Gale is tirelessly pursuing the malevolent protege of Dr Josef Mengle, Adelwolfe who has escaped justice for decades. Her unquenchable drive leads her down many corridors of treachery, distrust and mocking red herrings. Adelwolfe taunts her through electronic voice recordings and eerie music and coincidentally a mutant strain of virus is asserting itself in almost epidemic proportions. Melissa's personal life is further complicated by her desire to conceive as her biological clock is ticking.Yet her path and Adelwolfe's will intersect in startling and unexpected ways that will mesmerize and delight readers who seek the unpredicatable in thriller fiction. Any further revelation of the plot would cheat the readers out of a pulsating discovery for themselves. "The Last Nazi" peaks at the top of its class and Stan Pottinger has cemented an already prestigous reputation with this superior excursion into dizzying excitement.
AN EPIC READING OF AN EPIC THRILLER

Just when we thought all fears of Nazi terrors had long been laid to rest "Adalwolf" appears in our country. His given name is not known. What is known is that he is a genius, and was once the diabolic young protege of the Butcher of Auschwitz, Josef Mengele. The world believed him dead for almost half a century. Yet, he is very much alive and has killed three people. Melissa Gale is an attorney and investigator for the Office of special Investigations, the entity known as "Nazi Hunters." She is on the trail of "Adalwolf," little knowing that he is stalking her. It is only through Melissa and her personal medical history that this deadly psychopath can create a virus capable of mass destruction. The two readers cast for this epic thriller deserve a hearty high five. Paul Hecht invests his delivery with appropriate menace, and Maggi-Meg Reed is a sterling Melissa. - Gail Cooke
Stan's Best Book Yet
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
I have read all three of Stan's books. All were good, but this is by far the best. It is a real page turner with a plot that is terrifying and full of surprises. The book flows quite evenly throughout, and the story is unbelievably creative and captivating. It is neat to see how a writer matures, and Stan has already reached the qualities of a continuous best seller. It took Grisham and Crichton a while; remember? I'm looking forward to reading Stan's book out next year apparently, about retribution by some guys up against a some high-flying rip-off executives. ("How sweet it is!" - post-Enron) I know this much about the book because the author now has a web site. It is worth going to because who would have guessed that Stan used to work in the U.S. Department of Justice as a U.S. Assistant Attorney General? What is it about lawyers-turned-authors that makes them good fiction writers?.
