Ironically, this book spent weeks on the floor of our office (with the rest of the category) prior to judging. If only we had read it sooner, we'd have removed the clutter from our surroundings. McCurdy takes an analytical approach to the stuff we trip over every day. If something keeps showing up in the same place, it might be that it is either in the wrong place or has no place at all, but the truth could be that it is in the right place and has yet to be given a safe and comfortable position and thereby becomes imposing. McCurdy espouses a philosophy that all clutter isn't necessarily bad; it just needs a rightful home were it's most useful. McCurdy provides a myriad of tips and suggestions that not only help us organize our environment but assists people with natural tendencies to create clutter (i.e. dyslexics, ADD, etc.).

Shiela has presented a remarkably clear, concise and thorough method of helping me to understand how and why I need to declutter. In a humorous, yet highly informative and non-judgemental manner, she presents individual case studies to make 'The Floor is Not an Option' an organizing book enjoyable and fun to read. Rereading this book I was even more impressed than the 1st reading.

This book is packed with creative solutions for the "clutter challenged". It is very complete and has a sympathetic look at a problem that plagues millions. I found several suggestions very practical for some of my own clutter "issues".
