A great little reference! I have been using it for years. I, and my friends are impressed with its contents. Ignore the naysayer's comment about redundancy, there are so many brands, I think it is good to get as many as possible in the book even though it may seem repetitive. Most would ignore all the information had they not found their exact brand. I do wish Ms. Netzer would update the edition with current brands and formulations. I cannot afford (or take a deduction) to keep up with Bowes & Chruch's periodic offerings.

I too, purchased this volume many years ago. Diet intentions come, and go, but I know that if I want to be aware of how many calories a basic, pork cutlet has in fat, and calories, for example, this is the book I turn to. No book of this type, can be all things to all people. There are several volumes, covering the new packaged foods-which come and go. And if your going to remain informed, you have to continue to buy the revised volumes. the food pool changes. For the money-in any case-I believe I'm getting value, in owning seveal volumes. I understand I need to spend a small amt of money to have the vital information I have to have about food, being a diagnosed diabetic for several years now. And I'm excited to know that connie's landmark book is still available, so I can buy a replacement for the orig volume I still have.

Good for reference. Needs and RDA chart/appendices

The book is great for at home reference. Much more in depth than most books of its kind. Lists fat, saturated fat, fiber, cal., etc. Major vitamins and minerals. The book is lacking an RDA chart and could use more info on what are desired consumption values. Also could use a chapter on how to read food labels and how to use the info on the label. A good value for the price.
