Try making a traditional Dorset button, a knitted bobble or natural wood toggle. Every buttonhole deserves the best button - and this book will teach you everything you need to know to create the most beautiful hand-crafted buttons.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I became interested in buttons when I started making Dorset buttons. This book just adds to my fascination with " button-alia". Included are really great ideas for making your own buttons that will enhance any of your projects that need just the perfect button.

I was searching the internet for a particular book I had borrowed from my local library a few years ago on making your own buttons, and in the process I found "The Button Maker". The reviews were good, so I chanced to buy it. Am I so glad I did!!! I just exclaimed more and more with each page I turned. Such creativity with the different kinds of things you can use to make your own buttons! They looked so simple, I was inspired! Materials and methods like crochet, knitting, fabric, wood, beads, oven baked clay and threads might not surprise you, but cotton wool turned into buttons? Key ring holders? What about shells, rubber, plastic, braids and much more - even bottle tops and photos! Such little expense, and so many varieties of methods using things you already have around the home. Step by step detailed pictures, excellent instructions and a well set out book makes the book a joy to have and to use. The inspiration just flows by looking through the book! If you want to make unique buttons that are classy and unique, I highly recommend this book. I'm going to have so much fun making buttons, and the inspiration the book gives will undoubtedly find me experimenting and making more and more buttons. It could easily become an addiction!!! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be able to make their own buttons, even if they don't think they have crafting skills.
