In this rhyming adventure, three knights and a boy set out to fight a dragon that has been terrorizing local villages. The three knights, Randolph the Brave, Simon the Wise, and Bogsworth the Strong, are picked off one by one as they are distracted into proving their strengths. In the end, small Saul saves the day by convincing the dragon to fly away and never return. The trick is making the dragon believe that the boy's mandolin is magic and will shrink the dragon into absolutely nothing. Victory in hand, Saul returns home a noble knight. The story is punctuated by a song that the knights sing as they travel.
