Kate is a Judge in Texas who is a surrogate for her sister and brother in law. It turns out though that her sister is also pregnant and because Kate is unmarried and pregnant in a very conservative town she may loose her job. That is where Jake comes in. He is the biological father of the baby Kate is carrying and decides to marry her in name only so that she wont loose her job. What starts as an in name only marriage turns into a love match and a very good book
Touching love story

This is the first book by Emily McKay that I have read and I lived it. I love that the hero is laid back and easy to like unlike in many other romances. The heroine is also easy to like but a bit more reserved then the hero. This story tells how friendship and learning repect of each other can lead to the most amazing love. If the circumstances hadn't been the way they were then I doubt that these two would ever have found love together.
BEAUTIFUL STORY - WITH ISSUES

Finally, Kate Bennet realizes that her baby is more important than her job. Jake Morgan had agreed to donate sperm for Kate Bennet to become a surrogate for her sister, Beth and her husband, Stewart. But, lo and behold, Beth gets pregnant - highly improbable but not impossible. Kate has issues, she doesn't trust Jake to hang around. Ah, but her job as judge is in jeopardy because of her out-of-wedlock pregnancy. So she finally asks Jake to marry her. A marriage of convenience only. HaH! Oh, but the marriage does have benefits. Oh,yeah! Both always seems to put their foot in their mouth to cause some sort of misunderstanding. But hey, that makes for a lively story. You will love the characters exchange of communications - although I find Kate's more than human issues a bit dragging - but I still have no complaints plot wise. Definitely Recommended --

What I enjoyed most about SURROGATE AND WIFE was the well developed characters. Kate's emotional struggle over whether to keep the baby or give it to her sister (whom she was originally carrying it for--but discovers the sister is pregnant too) is very real and very well-written. Jake (the baby's father)...and no, not the sister's husband, but the husband's best friend (I hope that makes sense), wants to keep the baby AND Kate. Getting Kate to agree is fun to watch. It's a heart-warming story with real issues and a great ending. Buy it!
