Stress Reduction for Busy People: Finding Peace in an Anxious World

This latest edition to our "Busy People" series offers just the right mix of practical, easy-to-implement tips and background about why it is important to reduce stress. Dawn Groves writes with an upbeat, "if I can do it you can too" attitude, and she herself has recently experienced stress as never before: Her aging mother suffered a massive stroke, Dawn had some health problems of her own, the deadline for the book loomed, and the family was trying to move.

Dawn offers a realistic view of a busy world counterbalanced by goal-setting approaches to take control and to thrive. Describing our choices and priorities, she shows that by starting with a few simple changes, anyone can find a few minutes each day to take care of their bodies with exercise, sleep, and good food; their souls with meditation and prayer; and their minds with pursuits that challenge and please. Techniques such as "reframing" and "facts not stories" will help readers understand how to use thoughts to reinterpret events and issues for healthier emotions.

Cool Stuff Makes Sense

This is a really cool book. It is easy but not stupid. Funny but not cliche. Not preachy. I bought it for some folks I manage and it helped them a lot. I heard Dawn speak and decided to buy a couple of her books. Both are great. I'm starting to meditate and thanks to Stress Reduction, I finally got what living stressed-out is doing to me. I want to keep my brain so I'm getting busy being less busy. Being smarter about it.

From avoiding worries to accepting a complicated world

In Stress Reduction For Busy People, Dawn Groves showcases steps to alleviating stress and offers over-stressed folks a host of effective, "user friendly" coping mechanisms each of which require no extra daily effort to deploy. From avoiding worries to accepting a complicated world with the least stress, Stress Reduction For Busy People provides a strongly recommended guide to attitude enhancements which can in themselves reduce stress.

excellent book

I read about this book on Beliefnet and got excited. a stress reduction book that works? cant be true. I need a book to be entertaining as well as practical. Call me shallow, I guess. Anway I am determined to take my life back and this book really helps. Interesting and easy to read. I highly recommend it.

Great advice

This book is very interesting. It makes sense and is more than just another "you gotta reduce your stress load" book. It has a ton of good ideas and I found many of them immediately applicable at work and at home.

Not just any stress reduction book

I thought i read all I wanted to about stress. then I heard her on the radio and liked her perspective. this book takes a different look at stress reduction. a bigger view. practical and almost poetic, all at the same time. you can read it in an hour. I bought some for office gifts. I especially liked chapter 4 about goalsetting. Dawn doesnt bog you down, but she is also motivating. I liked her other books in the busy people series, but this hits the nail on the head for me.
