Ever since Brigham Young sent a handful of men and women on "art missions" to Europe back in the 1870's, the Latter-Day Saints have sought to produce art worthy of their faith. This wonderful book is among the best examples I have seen of what great things can happen when faith and art are blended to tell our stories. There is not a wasted word -- the text is, to paraphrase Matthew Cowley, beautfully simple, and simply beautiful. The accompanying artwork is the best I have ever seen in a children's book directed at the LDS market: Barrett's style is reminscent of the work of award-wining children's illustrator Jerry Pickney, rich in color, texture, and detail. This book deserves a place on the shelf of every Latter-Day Saint home. It is a remarkably moving work.

For those of you who are LDS this is a must have. A wonderful story about President Hinckly and his patience and love for gardening. Although my children are very young, I look forward to passing this story on to them. The pictures are very soft and beautiful. There is also a section of related scriptures at the back which I found very nice.
