This remarkable book by Barry Long is an edited transcript of talks given during a meditation weekend. For beginners this would be a good introduction and for veterans, it can add a fresh perspective to their practice. What I cherish most about this book is the seemingly outrageous philosophy that is presented on being a Man, on being a Woman and the inner Being described as well as enlightened interaction that is possible. For example, "all our relationships that have not been resolved end up in the stomach." [p.69] "The way we stay present is to hold on consciously to our body within." [p.87] "Make love for love--only for love. And while you're making love don't expect anything beyond the moment." This is a significant book of Barry Long's teaching-in-action. Sweet as he sounds, these teachings have depth and soul. And he's a no-nonsense guru of Western Tantra. He has passed on. Some of his video teachings are on U-tube. I recommend this book and am grateful to have been introduced to him by American Guru, Andrew Cohen.
A Guide to Meditation and Contemplative Prayer Experiences

This very interesting book is based on an actual workshop. I found Mr. Long's explanations and answers to the participants regarding their physical, visual and psychic experiences during one-pointed (empty-minded) meditation to be extremely helpful.
