Brigit Barrasford, a lovely young woman haunted by voices and visions outside the bounds of ordinary life, struggles to come to terms with her unusual powers in a romantic adventure that spans the late 1930s through World War II. As a lonely child growing up on the Isle of Man in the care of an unloving aunt, Brigit turns to her imaginary friend Michael for companionship.
