This "Choose Your Own Adventure" book is better than most of the others. There is less cutesy dialog and more emphasis on the problems that space travel and colonization present. You are the commander of a ship in the Space Rescue Emergency Fleet and your companion is a sentient computer named Henry. Some of the adventures end with your immediate death as a consequence of your foolish choices but others lead to the successful completion of the mission. The continuity of the stories through the various options is also better than in some of the others. Although that is still a problem, after you complete one sequence, it is hard to go back and follow the second sequence to the conclusion. I am not a fan of the stories with multiple options, being a firm believer that young readers should follow a plot line from the beginning to end without having to consider options. However, in this case, it largely works, which is why I gave it four stars.

Space Patrol by Julius Goodman has many adventures. You never know when something is going to happen. The reader can choose different things.
