A great book for the next generation of horse girls!

The writing style is very simple and really only suitable for young readers, but it was a delightful read and really my nostalgia.
Interesting Departure from the Other Bella Sara Books
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
This book is the most original in the series. In it, a young girl (Amber) encounters the horse (Shamal). The twist is that her culture considers horses to be evil and manipulative. Therefore, Amber resists Shamal's friendship for quite some time. When they are in danger together, she finally realizes that what she had been taught about horses is untrue. The book is a study in tolerance and open-mindedness. Most of the usual features of Bella Sara books (Bella and Bello, Canter Hollow, the Valkyries, and North of North) are absent from this book. The story does contain some magic. Due to the strong moral message and the originality of the story, this is my favorite Bella Sara book (and my daughter and I have read them all). Obviously, as a mother, I am not the target audience. My six-year-old daughter loves all Bella Sara books indiscriminately.
