I'm half way through the book and it's amazing how the author was able to focus entire quarters around one Social Studies Unit. The writing gets a bit dull, but I plan to use all of her tasks. I strive to make my classroom this fluid!
The voice of a classroom teachers comes through clearly.

Seeing the Whole Through Social studies is an important addition to the teaching of social studies. It is clear that Tarry Lindquist is a master teacher; she teaches her children and she teaches her readers. A teacher in any stage of his/her career can find exciting new ways of presenting ideas to kids here. althouhg it is aimed at elementary school, it is equally valuable for middle school teachers. If you have only one book in social studies methods, this is the one. If you have two books, choose Ways that Work, her new addition to the field of teaching social studies. As you read her voice, you hear the clear voice of a classroom teacher.
