There is a series of books about the wealthy Garrison family. This book is about Adam Garrison, the third son. His two older brothers give him no respect at all and he is trying to win their respect and more influence in the Garrison business. In order to do so, he thinks he needs the perfect wife. He choose Lauryn Lowes who already worked for him. She was a very quit beautiful woman. She refused him at first because the marriage proposal had come out of the blue, they weren't even friends. She finally consented for reasons of her own. She had a past that she needeed closure on and by marrying him, she thought that she could find that closure. Unfortunately she didn't tell him about her reson for marrying him.
