My 7 year old girl was interested in world records, but was grossed out by the Guinness Book. So was I. Guinness has a lot of gross pictures of stuff like Worlds Heaviest Eyelid Pull (a guy put hooks on his eyelids , attached ropes to them and pulled a car.) Scholastic is better. tt

The SCHOLASTIC BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS is back, this time with new and updated records for 2008. This interesting and resourceful reference guide is divided into seven main categories: Sports Records Human-Made Records Nature Records Popular Culture Records Money and Business Records Science Records U.S. Records Filled with both interesting (the world's fastest land bird -- the ostrich) and obscure (the country that drinks the most bottled water -- Italy), there's something here for everyone. This would make a great addition for home or school libraries. Highly recommended! Reviewed by: Jennifer Wardrip, aka "The Genius"
