He should be dead. That was what Olivia Killinger thought when her former fiancé appeared at her door sixteen years after his "death." Now Jacques Sauvage was asking for her help to bring down a deadly syndicate--which was led by her own father. Olivia had never stopped loving Jacques, but how could she trust the man? She knew he needed her help...but did he also want to reignite the passion that had once burned between them?
Jack Sauer is dead. Sixteen years had passed since Olivia Killinger had last seen him, last loved him and last believed in him. But to her surprise he's on her doorstep in the flesh, telling her that her father is the reason that the world is in danger. Jack (Jacques) needs to use Olivia as leverage over her father to stop him from releasing the deadly virus that would destroy them all. Olivia has always loved Jack but how could she trust him? How can she believe that her father would do something so vile? How far will Jack go to stop her father? Who can Olivia trust if not the two men who have always meant the most to her...? Loreth Anne White's Shadow Soldiers series concludes with Rules of Re-Engagement and it is a stellar closing to a superb series. An added bonus for me with this third story of the series, was that it's a reconciliation story as well, which is a favourite storyline of mine. The emotion between Olivia and Jack is touching, endearing and earth-shattering. A reader can feel their pain of the past, their desires for the present and the future sweep off the pages as they race against time and the fear of losing one another again. Ms. White exemplifies natural writing ability with this series. Danger, intrigue, corruption, fear, passion and romance flow from the pages and hold the reader captive in the race against time, brings us true heroes and heroines and shows that where there's a will--there's love. The story of Olivia and Jack, as well as the other characters of this series, were depicted exceptionally well and the honest and deep emotions throughout, really connected the reader to the stories. Rules of Re-Engagement is the third of this series and draws a close to the Shadow Soldiers (FDS) series (as far as we know--I know I'd love to see more), and this reader won't be forgetting it anytime soon, nor the author who is noteworthy name in romance. Bravo Loreth Anne White!!!
