This is a collection of approximately 24 short poems by Deborah Chandra and the work has been illustrated by Leslie Bowman. It has been a long time since I was truely impressed with contemporary poetry, being stuck in a bygone age. This work truely snapped me out of it. The poems are simple, about simple subjects, but each and everyone can bring a wonderous feeling to the reader. One poem, Grandpa's Shoes is one of the best I have read in a long, long time. This is the first work in the book, and it just seem to get better and better with each page. The illustrations in this work are of the best. When I read this book of poems, I always say to myself, "I wish I could write like that." I must admit to saying the same thing about the illustrations. You will certainly be a much richer person for having read this work.
