Reading Miscue Inventory "opens windows" for preservice teachers
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
This text is an invaluable resource for those learning about the reading process and miscue analysis. I use it in my Reading Practicum class. The students read chapters, place stop and jot sticky notes on certain pages where they have questions, or comments, or ideas, and then bring those notes to class for discussion. Most of them have just completed their first miscue analysis with their reading partners. I was very happy (and relieved) to see how well they had picked up on the procedure and then the marking of the typescripts. I credit the text, with its clear explanations (lots of sticky notes on one page that say "What??" and then followed a page or two later with "OH...I get it now!") and examples and checklists. I'm looking forward to the rest of the semester!
Classroom accessibility of reading analysis

As a long time user of the original and more complex RMI by Goodman and Burke, I welcome this revision in general but, particularly the provision of a shorter, less complex form that the inquiring classroom teacher can use.
