I USED THIS BOOK TO TEACH A GROUP OF 6TH GRADE GIRLS. INSTRUCTIONS WERE VERY CLEAR AND THE PATTERNS FOR THE PROJECTS WERE VERY APPEALING TO THE GIRLS. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
Most practical kids knitting book I've seen.

We first checked this book out from the library and then decided to purchase it for ourselves. My 12 yro daughter and I have both made the adorable but simple to make backpack in this book as well as a couple of other things. I like that the patterns really are simple enough for kids to make and most of them are things the kids will actually use. My daughter also made the backpack for her very thankful 7 yro sister for Christmas. I would recommend this book for kids as well as novice adult knitters.
Easy to understand and practical

I'm a new knitter, always on the prowl for something besides another scarf to make, and this is a great book for the beginner. 1. The projects are actually usable (no strange bean bags, but slippers, hats, even a non-intimidating sweater). 2. The language is easy to understand, even encouraging. For example, the author not only explains what the garter, stockinette and seed stitch look like, but why you care--the practical use of each. 3. The illustrations are a good mix of photos and drawings, with ethnic diversity in the models. (I would have liked to have seen more male knitters, but I guess the author was being realistic.) Very upbeat book.
