Set against a romantic backdrop straight from the streets of Rome, Janet Pedersen's whimsical tale reminds us that the purr-fection we seek is often right under our whiskered noses. Mamma mia! All the cats love the Signora's pasta . . . fresh and sweet, spiced to perfection, and served with affection. Only Pino turns up his nose and searches for something different, something that will make him purr like the best-fed cat in all of Rome. But whatever this finicky gourmet tastes, from fresh fish at the local cafe - Shoo, cat! Shoo! - to a stew at the fancy trattoria - Shoo, cat! Shoo! - a certain something is missing. What's a lonely, hungry cat to do?
Like the Toto book I reviewed, this book is a great bedtime story for a child who likes Italy or cats. Our family saw these cats in Roma when our son was small and now he can relive the time. This book also introduces some basic Italian vocabulary. I recommend this book to anyone with a child interested in Italy, good food, or cats!
Bravo!

My daughter, 2 1/2, LOVES this story! She calls it the "pasta story". I picked this one up at the library because it had cats in the story. She loves it so much that I'm buying the book!
