"Pieces for Piano - Volume III" by composer Gary Rutledge is an eclectic collection of 16 (mainly) short pieces. The pieces range from intermediate to advanced level. Being short in length they can be learned in a short time frame. There are three volumes in this series, all with various degrees of difficulty. All of the pieces are stylistically different. Many of the pieces, such as "Adrift on the Sea " (eg. Contrasting rhythms in the left and right hands), were designed to help learn particular technical skills. Other pieces, such as the "Dance of the Three Dolls" , conjure up an imagined storyline. In general " Volume I" contains easier pieces, whilst " Volumes II and III" have a more difficult set of pieces. The pieces in "Volume III" are titled: Ice Flow, Dialogue, Adrift on the Sea, Daydream, Landscape, Rondo Variations, The Rose, Red, Spontaneous Piano - No.7, Floating in Space, Black, The Elephant's Last Walk, Chromatic Study, SergePro Playing With His Toy Piano, Study for the Right Hand and Allegretto.
