An edgy, urban, young adult novel that has all the same elements of glamour, decadence, and wealth that make the hit television series Gossip Girl so popular and addictive. The esteemed Walburton Academy on Manhattan's Upper West Side educates some of the wealthiest--and most hormonal teens--in the city. Kennedy and Reagan are twin sisters who are polar opposites except for their taste in boys. They ruthlessly compete with each other for the attention of the hunky newcomer, rapper Lucas Williams. The lean and luscious Madison Reynolds is a top model living under the watchful eye of her domineering grandmother, who is formerly the great dame of the fashion world. But it's not the photographers, agents, and designers that her grandmother has to worry about; it's the boys at school who are the real predators, like ber-rich, party animal Ian Reinhardt and former child star, Peyton Granger. Peer Pleasure is a captivating glimpse into the world of privileged New York City teenagers negotiating real-life challenges as they transition into young adulthood. Written in a fast-paced, enjoyable style, Peer Pleasure depicts the intersections between the exclusive worlds of fashion, music, and wealth, examining how the lives of the elite and the multicultural overlap as all of these diverse students are thrown together under one roof in one crazy city.
Privileged, with unlimited resources, a model, ex child star, heir and fashionista are running the who's who at the esteemed Walburton Academy, in Manhattan. Madison is a teen supermodel. Unlike other models her age, she's supervised on a regular by her grandmother, Renee, who was once a model herself. While it's hard for her to get to experience everything with her grandmother's watchful eye, with Reagan, her best friend and shopping accomplice; boyfriend, Ian Reinhardt, who has family money; and Peyton Granger, a former child star, they are able to tip the envy scale. However, when Lucas Williams shows up at their school, the crew automatically assess that he's nobody, especially when Kennedy, Reagan's identical twin sister, seems to immediately capture his attention. Kennedy and Lucas hit a high-note and both seem to love the way the other flows. Unfortunately, when the press about Lucas comes out, Reagan is all ready for the remix. PEER PLEASURE was an easy enough read. With equal dosages of haughtiness and humbleness, it's appealing to teens of all races. I really liked the contrast differences of the characters as well as the priceless lessons. Reviewed by: Crystal

Walburton Academy, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is the high school for a unique group of teenagers. We have top model Madison Reynolds, former child star Peyton Granger (known as PG to his friends), twins Kennedy and Reagan (so named after the two past presidents), and upcoming new star Lucas Williams. Peer pressure , credit cards, and money to burn is a way of life for some, while getting an education and helping others are the guiding forces for others. PEER PLEASURE by Danita Carter has young extraordinary characters with strong, bold, and daring personalities. They live by the creed of money, sex, alcohol, and the attitude "I am more important than you," which translates into a mirror image of many of today's youth. The story speaks directly to the youth of today with an important message to adults. The worlds of fashion, music and wealth are the thin lines between right and wrong, and shows how fast the lives of our youth can get out of control when there are no rules and no supervision. In this age where our youth act before they think, PEER PLEASURE is the perfect book for an adult - youth book discussion. The lessons which can be learned by young ladies and gentleman would be invaluable. Reviewed by Toni Bonita of The RAWSISTAZ (tm) Reviewers
