This oversized board book traces a city across the span of a day -- filled with the people, traffic, parks, streets, stores, and buildings that make up the town. The breadth of the urban experience... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is definitely aimed at kids who live in BIG cities. It's great to have a picture book that focuses on daily city life as opposed to farm, etc. We live in a not-so-BIG-city and it's still applicable and fun to read, though we don't have cookouts on rooftops or play Frisbee amongst skyscrapers. The book is cut and layered in a really cool way, which makes it fun for kids (and adults). I'm not crazy about the text, though and the pictures are a little wonky. My baby is currently 14 months old and she sometimes has a hard time distinguishing the ball from the Frisbee in the park and pointing out some of the details in the pictures.
For the little ones living in the city

I gave Noisy City Day and Noisy City Night to my friend's two year old. He lives in NYC. Although he loves his barn and farm books, he needs something that relates to his life and all the sounds and noises of the city. These books are so cool - he likes making the car noises and truck noises when we read it and he identifies with the noises the book highlights, and the colors and shapes are so bright and funky. Great set for a child in the city!
Modern and hip cutout book

My 20 month old child really enjoys this book. The pictures are bold and bright with plenty of her favorite things to name - "Woof woof"/"doggie" and "big truck!" The text has lots of sound effects that she likes to imitate and join in on when she hears me start to recite them like "cars and trucks go ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM." The graphics are modern and funky, with edgy "layered" cutout pages on top that form a city skyline. I appreciate too that it's a little more representative of our life in a city than some of her other books. I love her books with farm animals, but it's nice to include some books that reflect her everyday world a little bit too.
