MYTH, MAGIC, and METAPHOR takes the reader on a journey. This book was not written to provide answers. It was written to provoke questions and ignite the imagination while examining history, art, literature, philosophy, mathematics, and music as components of the creative process. It is a voyage of discovery, and maybe its real goal is simply the joy of knowing the journey will never end Patricia Daly-Lipe encourages us, "to experience the sense of wonder we knew as children, to use our imagination, to feel and absorb the world around us, to listen, not just to hear, to see, not just to look; in sum, to become intoxicated with life. The tool is the heart; the medium is words." - " The arts are] bound to inspire imagination and creativity andawaken in scores of young people a yearning and talent manydon't know resides in them." - Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States
Sometimes the writer needs a jolt of caffeine or something inspiring. The book helps the writer unlock the gates and let it flow. Wonderful old friend quotes and a few new ones makes the piece a nice party to read. My version has dog ears and coffee stains but I'd never lend it out to anyone anyway. A perfect gift for the creative mind.

For anyone looking for their creativity button this small, dynamic book is a must read. Ms. Daly leads the reader through an understandable path to finding your creative juices without wandering too far off the journey to finding your writing powers. With the many exercises she includes within the chapters it makes this 107 page book even more valuable. I found this journey to writing can also be applied to other arts that the reader may be interested in pursuing. This is definitely a book you will want to read several times and keep as a handy reference.

For me, this was a delightful and refreshing book to read. I found myself underlining and asterisking numerous phrases throughout the book to refer to again and again. I would highly recommend it to anyone involved in or interested in the creative arts.
