Mildred and Elsie

With a bleeding heart, Mildred returns to her family in Indiana - only to reject two suitors from the onset, for she now knows she can plegde her hand to none other than Charlie Landreth. And only if he should someday become a Christian. Her advanced maturity is depicted in this third volume in the series, for now she bears all of her cares with patience, and cheerfulness. The charactors of her brothers and sisters are fully developed, and the Keith family's home life is elaborated on, as well as the advancments of Pleasent Plains, their hometown. I was dissapointed that Mildred's relationships with Lu Grange and Claudina Chetwood (her girlfriends) were pushed to the sidelines so much. Only two or three recorded conversations between these girls and Mildred! And we are not even told what color hair and eyes they had. Also, most of the more colorful charactors, like Rhoda Jane Lightcap, from Mildred Keith, were not even mentioned! Gets boring about a quarter of the way through, with the monotany being broken only by the hilarious ecapades of Mr. Lord, the eccentrical minister. Has a great ending, with Mildred and Charlie's courtship brought to a decisive conclusion . . . in marriage.

Super Good! You will really enjoy it!

Mildred and Elsie is so good, that after I finished it I was so satisfied with the ending I didn't have to keep collecting the whole series! It had the best ending of all the Mildred books I own! This book is #3 in the 7 books available. It is both suspenseful, romantic, heartbreaking at points if you have a heart for the despised suitors rejected!! It is put together so well,I could not hardlyput it down!!It is also yet encouraging and wonderful for Christian girls. It is one of my favorites!
