Impulsive Marianne Dashwood and cautious Elinor are as different as two sisters could be, yet both are shattered by their father's sudden death. Elinor's attachment to the reserved Edward Ferrars is torn asunder by family opposition and his own dark secret, while Marianne's brilliant romance with the dashing John Willoughby comes to a tumultuous end in a devastating public betrayal. Can the two sisters overcome these trials to find true, lasting happiness? Jane Austen's beloved first novel, filled with romance, redemption and social critique, is brought to life for a modern audience in this gorgeous manga-style adaptation
I was hanging out in our public library and I knew I couldn't borrow anything because my library card was already expired. So I decided to pick this up and read it.
Classic books are my weakness. I just cannot understand them for the life of me. It's possible that I'm just not interested. But I'm sure it's because English is not my first language and the words are just too deep for me to understand.
Thank goodness for this classic mangas! Because they gave me a good reason to read classic literature. And this book is one of them. I'm not going to lie, I'm so used to the modern manga now that the art was something I didn't expect. But I love the author's/artist's notes in the end. It gave me a new sense of appreciation for this manga.
The story is so good! It's a tad dramatic but it's good. I just really appreciate the way the conflicts of the two sisters were conveyed. And how you present yourself to the public is important. It also gave an interesting look on how the community can be so helpful and so cruel to a person.
