Daisuke Matsukawa and the up-and-coming young cameraman Kentaro Nishioka have developed from comrades who work well together into friends who are called lovers. But even though he's sexy, the shy Nishioka is also obstinate and naughty. Poor Matsukawa has no idea where this love affair is headed.
It has been more that 1.5 years since the release of Loveholic 1. This sequel is just as charming if not better and I find myself falling in love with Matsukawa and Nishioka all over again. Who would have thought Matsukawa is such a caring and loving seme. In vol 2, they are more or less a couple but it seems Matsukawa is the only one willing to commit on a deeper level as Nishioka shys away from uttering the 3 "fatal" words. Matsukawa, more open about their relationship, is frustrated but being the more mature seme he is, puts up with Nishioka's fearful reservation. It does not help that the demands of careers and family conspire to keep them apart, culminating to a cross road where the lovers face an ultimatum. Vol 2 expresses their ups and downs as lovers so well, their feelings convincing, heartfelt, bittersweet yet so loving and tender. There are of course light hearted funny moments too. One particular scene in the carnival is just outrageously cute and the last bonus epilogue on Matsukawa's tattoo is funny yet so sweet. Toko Kawai's artwork is of course a delight, her guys' expressions so vivid. Loveholic is pure charm and I just love its deeply emotional ending. So glad that June has given us the complete story.
