The terrain of Colorado forms a metaphor for life as acclaimed writer Ken Gire reflects upon the smooth, even terrain of eastern Colorado in contrast to the wild, uncertain, jagged terrain of western Colorado. The majestic, awe-inspiring mountains of western Colorado were born out of the most terrifying eruptions. And that is the unrelenting work of heaven, to make everything beautiful in its time. All of us would like life to be smooth with no upheavals. But the fact is that our lives are anything but. Our lives are full of upheaval, for that is life as we are given it. Gire looks at the beauty that is the result of these upheavals.
Ken Gire has written a thoughtful book about the seasons of life and how our lives are part of the natural cycle of life and death. He reminds us that what looks like destruction is actually the beginnings of new creation. This is a hopeful message for the times in our lives when we face tragedy, heartbreaking disappointments, or even the daily uphill grind. In His time, the Master is making us beautiful in His eyes, and bringing light into all the dark corners of our life experiences. This is a very easy read, but also thought-provoking, and Ken Gire uses lovely, lyrical -- almost poetic -- descriptions at times that evoke vivid images. I already loaned my copy out...

I love all of Ken Gire's books. He just makes sense in his explanations about tough times. He knows God's in control and loves us, but also acknowledges the pain and difficulties trials bring. As I've walked through hard times, I've so appreciated each of his books.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE

Reccomended by a colleague I found it to be one of the most inspiring books I've read in a long time. "Life As We Would Want It..." addresses the desire of most to have smooth sailing through life: it doesn't happen that way. The author provides sound and reasonable counsel to change your approach to life in order to handle all that it throws at you. I am reccomending this book to everyone I encounter.
