I don't really know why I chose to write 40 haiku. I haven't studied the art form, nor have I devoted much time to reading or experiencing haiku, outside of school and the occasional social media post or novel intro.
But I enjoyed getting to know the form, testing its limits, and following where my stream of consciousness took me, as I walked the 40 days of Lent, through heaven on earth, back and forth across Texas, and informed by my spiritual pursuits, family and friends, and favorite spring pastimes (namely basketball and hiking).
