"An ethical man is a Christian holding four aces." So said Mark Twain. But practicing Christians, at least, want to be ethical in all areas of life and work--not just when they are holding four aces. To those faced with the many questions and quandaries of doing business with integrity, Alexander Hill offers a place to begin. Alexander Hill carefully explores the foundational Christian concepts of holiness, justice and love. These keys to God's character, he argues, are also the keys to Christian business ethics. Hill then shows how some common responses to business ethics fall short of a fully Christian response. Finally, he turns to penetrating case studies on such pressing topics as employer-employee relations, discrimination and affirmative action, and environmental damage. This is an excellent introduction to business ethics for students and a bracing refresher for men and women already in the marketplace.
This is such a wonderful book that gives me so much for insights as to how to present God's character in business, which helps your business to prosper.
Thought-Provoking Book

I am in graduate school and was assigned to read this book. Happily, I found this book is filled with scripture to back up the author's statements/theories. The mock mini-cases and/or illustrations that were provided in the book were extremely helpful in identifying possible business scenarios that one might encounter and ways to deal with them. The ways suggested to deal with the mock scenarios are always scripture-based and require thought and conviction from the reader. I really liked the book and recommend it to others. There is one more thing. This could be viewed as either a positive or a negative. I had to be close to www.dictionary.com because there were numerous words that were unfamiliar. If anyone is like me, if I do not look up the meaning of an unfamiliar word, I risk losing complete understanding of that passage/sentence. Once I looked up word definitions, I comprehended and enjoyed the reading. I must be honest and say that I expected an "easy read" (not having to look up definitions), but it wasn't that bad because (at least) I expanded my vocabulary on top of learning about business, Christian ethics (LOL)!
