In this fascinating volume, theologian and philosopher Richard Hooper reveals the common spiritual threads of the world's great religious traditions. Hooper organizes hundreds of sayings attributed to Jesus, Buddha, Krishna and Lao Tzu thematically and assembles these parallel sayings into four columns for easy reference. Culled from more than fifty ancient Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and Taoist texts, Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, and Lao Tzu includes topics such as, "The Great Way, "Suffering," and more. Each topic includes an insightful introduction that sends a powerful message that will be welcomed by all who seek the truth within, and within their own spiritual tradition.
This book is phenomenal! Exactly what I have been looking for all these years! The book was also in phenomenal condition!

The Parallel Sayings not only compares the holy writ from diverse religions, it also refutes and clarifies some false claims about their relationship and history. A lot offered in a small and artfully composed book.
Good book for the Spiritual Explorer

This book is an easy read with the Introduction providing historical information, primarily on Christianity and the findings which present it more in line with Krishna, Buddha and Lao Tzu. The rest of the book is laid out with a topic taking two pages, the headings going across and the parallel messages under each. I personally have used it as a morning devotional because it is pleasing to read and contemplate the same message presented 4 different ways. I grew up Christian yet felt the ancient texts were very similar to the others and this book is helping me understand similarities as I explore my path.
