This is a small volume that will fit in the palm of your hand, but it is filled with a lot of information and excellent photos. I had been looking for a book on Roman architecture, but couldn't really find one which combined photos, plates, maps, and text. I found this at a small shop outside the British Museum in London. This little volume is a great start and has peaked my interest in Roman architecture and architecture in general. This is only one volume in a larger series which I will be looking into getting more of. They are fast and easy to read. Chapters in this book include the empire of Alexander, the Hellenisation of Rome, Pompeii, Roman engineering, and a great glossary and decent bibliography. And of course at least a hundred great color photos of Roman masterpieces.
